! ! ! ! NEWS ! ! ! ! !
  1. There is a new volunteer sign-up form developed by Scot and Tammy Wagner. They have posted this new form this week at the pool for sign-up and it will also appear on the sign-up section of the website for the remainder of the meets. Tammy is the swim club volunteer coordinator in charge of making sure the different meets are staffed. If you sign-up on line or at the pool Scot and Tammy will now be updating the form so that Tammy can contact individuals to fill vacant positions. Please note that the new form is based on time frames to work instead of event numbers, ex. 11:00 - 1:00 vs. Event # 1 - 33. Therefore when signing up on line for positions please state as follows, Stroke Judge 11:00 - 1:00 or Timer, Lane #5, 11:00 - 1:00. You will be contacted by Tammy with any overlap conflicts for positions signed up for to see if you can do another job or lane etc.
  2. Wagner's have also developed a swim fan training form and training matrix as shown below to help you in figuring out your areas to report to for volunteering and what level of certification you may be so they can ask you to do certain positions. Thanks Scot and Tammy for your efforts.

! ! ! ! NEWS ! ! ! ! !
  1. The entry sheets for the kids for this Saturday's meet, December 17th. must be turned in tonight at the latest.
  2. Volunteer sign-up list have been placed at the high school pool or may be done on this website. Please try to sign-up at the website. There are directions on how to do this in the "Sign-up" section which are very descriptive. The hard copy list will be taken down on Wed. night to update the master list on the website. There will be times when we may have overlap with people signing up on line and also at the pool for the same positions. The website is updated daily, the sign-up sheet at the pool will only be taken down on Wed. and Friday evenings after practice to update the master list on the website. Until we can get to all on-line (website registering only) this will continue to happen. Sorry for any inconvenience.
  3. There is a Media Permission Waiver at the YMCA for the 8 and Under, and at the high school for the 9 & 10 year olds and the 11 and Up. Parents please sign next to your kids name so that we can place pictures on the website or in the newspaper. Names are never used on the website as can be seen in our photo gallery section.
  4. There are some pictures from the Burlington Meet in our Photo gallery. At the time of the first parents meeting there was nobody that approached me with any confidentiality matters as requested, so there are some generic pictures posted. Again please sign the forms as described in item #3 above this week at your practice pool.

! ! ! ! NEWS ! ! ! ! !
  1. Picture Gallery - Anyone who takes digital pictures at swim meets please send them electronically to moritzdavid@stanleygroup.com or buschwendi@stanleygroup.com. They will them be placed on the website. There will also be a parents permission sheet at the pools for them to sign next to their child's name for permission to use their photos on the website. We will try not to post any pictures of children without having a signed release. There may be inadvertent pictures of them in background pictures etc.
  2. Please go to the website and sign-up for volunteering for the meet on the 17th. There are easy to follow instructions on the website in both the news and sign-up sections. Next week the sign-up will also be posted at the pools.
  3. Picture information still coming . . . . .

December 05, 2005
IMPORTANT ITEMS
  1. Pictures have been postponed this week since some of the team suits have not yet arrived. When the suits arrive, pictures will be rescheduled. As stated earlier do not wash your swim suits in a washing machine. The best thing to do is rinse them out after swimming in cold water and hang dry. Certain soaps will ruin the fabric and cause the suits to age prematurely.
  2. Burlington Swim Meet is this Saturday. Click on link below for directions. Warm-ups are at 8:15 and the meet starts at 9:00. To anyone who has never been to the Burlington Pool before wear clothes in layers. It is usually very warm and you may be glad you have short sleeves. Also at the Burlington Meet they may or may not open their cafeteria for spreading out your goods. It may be wise to pack lightly for this meet due to space constraints. Again all entries need to be in to the coaches by tonight at the latest. Entry forms should be on the table at the pools.

Click Here >> Directions to Burlington High School Pool <<

    a. Hwy 61 south to Burlington

    b. On Hwy 61 go over Hwy 34 and past shopping mall.

    c. Look to your left and you will see the catholic high school.
Turn on Johanssen Drive to the left and the Burlington High School is located behind the catholic high school.

  3. Volunteers sign up sheet for the December 17th meet will be posted at the high school pool various evening so please sign-up on-line or at the pool. People posting on-line will be updated almost daily and the sign up sheet will be updated at the pool. We really need volunteers to step up and help with the meets. This prevents anybody from burnout and helps the meets to flow well.

December 01, 2005

Even if you are a new parent and would like to shadow someone please sign up on the website and state "I would be available to assist in anyway possible." We will get ahold of you and get you up to speed on any position you are interested in.

  3. December 10th Meet Entry Forms

The December 10th Meet Entry Forms are available at the practices for the meet in Burlington. The forms need to be filled out and returned to your coach by Monday, December 5th. Next week on the website will be more meet information and a map to the Burlington High School.

Have your kids left things at the pool? I am sure that hasn't happened to you, but in case it has check with the coaches after this discovery to see if they may have found your child's valuable possesions. Last night as the last people were leaving a new team suit and bag were found? Legend has it that ever since the pool was built there has been a mysterious force in both the mens and womens locker rooms that goes around hiding kids goggles, suits, and towels in the locker rooms. This force also has mystical powers to cloud your childs memory until they arrive at home to unload their bags. The coaches have contemplated bringing in an exorcist or something of that order, but this strong force of forgetfullness doesn't respond to any outside influence. By the end of the year it is amazing the pile of unexplained and unclaimed leftovers. Again, the quicker you make the discovery, the better chances to find your kids favorite items.

Jennifer Kent will be at swim team practice tonight to take orders for the Swim Team Towels. If you are not at practice and still want to place an order, please feel free to call her at 263-3198. The towels are $25.00 and would also make great Christmas presents!!!!!!!!!!

IMPORTANT ! ! ! !

Is this cool or what! Thanks to Emily Schoer's folks for this website for the kids who have glasses or contacts. The price is cheap for what they are and people swear by them. They will also be styling with the new team suit if you order the black or purple. All you need is your child's eye glass prescription and money. But think about the headaches your child will miss from not hitting their head on the end of the pool!

  • Discussion Forum Usage

There is also a discussion forum available at this time. Forums on the web can be a bad thing since sometimes they can be used as a complaint board. Unfortunately it takes all kinds to make the world go around and there are always a select few that are hard to please. This forum is for POSITIVE opinions or responses only.

As stated in the parents meeting if anybody has a matter which they are uncomfortable with, bring it up to a board member or the coaches on the side, not post on the forum. If this occurs the forum section will be closed immediately.

This is a great experience for the kids. Therefore everything posted to the website will be positive in nature. The forum will be open as long as the users want it to be. If it closes you will know why.

How to use "Discussion Forum"

  • Click on "Meets" and you will see the Meets/Event sign up area.
  • Click on "Chat/Discuss/Comments"
  • Click on "New Topic"
  • Enter your name under the "Username"

Then in the message body type in your message. Click "Submit"

If you would like to reply then click "Post Reply" to the message you would like to reply to.
