There will be no swim club practice for all swimmers 12 and under tonight due to bad weather. Bob will be having practice at the Y at 6pm for those that can safely make it.

If your child is planning on swimming in the Pre State Invitational in Marshalltown on February 7, please email entries no later than 9:00 Monday, January 12 to Joni Jackson at jettt2000@msn.com. The cost to swim in this meet is $10 per swimmer. The meet begins at 10 AM.

Practices at the Muscatine High School pool for Monday, Nov. 3, 2008 are cancelled because of the pool having too low of a chlorine level. Be sure to check the website for any practice changes for tomorrow.

The practice for the 13 and older swimmers will be held from 5:30 to 7 pm today.

Swimmers and Parents,

Besides the two open sessions listed on the attached flier. There will also be a special session on Sunday, Sept. 28 from 4 to 5 pm in the High School Cafeteria that will focus more on nutrition for swimming. This special session is for the High School swim teams and members of the Muscatine Swim Club. To learn a lot of good information about nutrition please try to attend one of the sessions.

Muscatine Swim Club Fundraiser << Click Link for Complete Details

The Muscatine Swim Club will be offering a "Preseason" swim practice Beginning August 18th that will last until the end of October. The practice time-frame will be from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm - Monday through Friday at Carver Pool (MHS).

Fees will be $25.00 for August and $50.00 per month for September and October - payable at the first practice attended during that month. This is a great opportunity for older swimmers to get into shape for the upcoming High School seasons and for younger and newer swimmers to get some additional stroke work and conditioning in before the YMCA season officially begins.

As many of you may (or may not) have heard, the Muscatine Swim Club has been unable to secure enough coaches during the summer months to offer a multi-practice program on a daily basis like we had last summer. We do however, have an early evening practice available and we are able to offer an opportunity to attend USA swim meets with a USA certified coach - Bob Calegan. Bob has been holding workouts on a daily basis at the YMCA at 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm. On June 9th the team will be transitioning over to the Muscatine High School - Carver Pool. At that time the pool will be available for practice at 7:00 pm (we will try to get it moved a bit earlier if the city will allow). Practices will run until 8:30 pm and will be available and designed for swimmers of all abilities.

The present group (about 20 swimmers), ranges from 7 yr olds to High School Varsity athletes (and all levels in between). We have had many swimmers just recently begin after the school year ended and the practices will be adjusted to each swimmer's ability. It is not mandatory to attend every practice and we will work around ball games and vacations. Bob has made printable workouts available for swimmers who need to swim on their own from time to time as well.

Fees will be $50.00 per month payable at the first practice attended during that month. If you would like to attend a USA swim meet, the Summer registration fee is $32.00 - which will allow you to swim at any USA meet up to the State Championship meet level (which will be held July 31st to August 3rd). This is a great opportunity for older swimmers to get into shape for the upcoming High School seasons and for younger and newer swimmers to get some additional stroke work and conditioning in.
